Understanding Where Your Content Should Go
With so many social media platforms out there, it can be hard to know where your content belongs. Does the same photo of an office birthday belong on an Instagram post or just on an Instagram story? Should you share it on Facebook and Twitter? If this sounds familiar to you, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Different platforms serve different purposes, and it’s good to know what kind of content works best on each one so that you can make the most of your online presence. Here’s a quick guide to help keep you on track:
- Facebook: The most versatile of social media platforms. Photos and videos do great on Facebook, particularly if you tag people in them. It’s also a good place to share links to articles or pop culture related content, like memes.
- Instagram: Photos are the clear winner here. Feel free to get as creative as you want to while still remaining thoughtful about what you’re sharing. Quality over quantity is essential.
- Instagram Stories: Think behind the scenes. Snap a photo of donuts for National Doughnut Day, or maybe a quick video of everyone singing happy birthday to a staff member. This is the kind of content that is meant to be more casual and showcase your office’s personality.
- Twitter: Articles do best here. You can share articles related to dentistry and orthodontics, or anything else that interests you. The thing to remember here is that Twitter is meant to spark conversation, so don’t be afraid to reply to what other people share, even if you don’t know them!
These are just general guidelines to follow if you get stuck on deciding where to share a specific piece of content. While overlap may be inevitable at times, make sure that each channel has a strong presence on its own and isn’t just a replica of another social media platform you might have.
